EU4Health
Open-call snapshot checked 2026-04-18
EU4Health is the European Union's funding programme for health, with a budget of around €5.3 billion for 2021-2027. It supports stronger, more resilient health systems, disease prevention, and crisis preparedness across the EU.
What EU4Health funds
EU4Health was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and funds work to make health systems more resilient. Priorities include disease prevention, health promotion, the fight against cancer through Europe's Beating Cancer Plan, digital health, access to medicines and medical devices, and crisis preparedness.
Funding is delivered through grants and, in some cases, joint procurement and direct support to EU bodies.
Who is eligible
Eligible applicants include public bodies, health organisations, non-governmental organisations, and — depending on the call — companies established in eligible countries. Many actions favour organisations that can deliver health-system or public-health outcomes at national or EU level.
Health-technology companies should also consider Horizon Europe's health cluster for research and innovation, and the European Innovation Council for breakthrough single-company innovation.
How EU4Health fits with research funding
EU4Health is largely about implementation and system strengthening rather than research. A medtech or digital-health company developing new technology will often find Horizon Europe or the European Innovation Council a closer fit, while EU4Health suits deployment, prevention, and public-health work.
